The filing fees for the N-400 application for naturalization are set to
change on April 1, 2024. The new fees will be as follows:
1. **Online Filing**: The fee will increase from $640 to $710.
2. **Paper Filing**: The fee will increase from $640 to $760.
Both options previously included a biometrics fee, which is now incorporated
into the base fee. Thus, the total fee for online filing with biometrics will
decrease slightly to $710, while for paper filing with biometrics, the total
will be $760【7†source】【8†source】【9†source】.
If applicants cannot afford the full fee, they may qualify for a reduced fee or
a fee waiver:
- **Reduced Fee**: Applicants with household incomes between 150% and 400% of
the Federal Poverty Guidelines may be eligible for a reduced fee of
$380【6†source】.
- **Fee Waiver**: Applicants with household incomes below 150% of the Federal
Poverty Guidelines or those receiving means-tested public benefits might be
eligible for a full fee waiver【6†source】.
For more details, including how to apply for fee waivers or reduced fees, you
can visit the official USCIS website or consult with an immigration attorney.
